The only sure way to find out whether there is a hearing loss is to carry out a full Audiometric Hearing Test. Our free hearing test will not only determine whether there is a hearing loss, but will also determine the type and the degree of the hearing loss. This information is vital in giving the correct advice on which products and styles of hearing aids are best suited to deal with the problem.
We use a pure tone hearing testing method, in order to find out the quietest sounds that can be heard at low, mid and high pitch within the ranges of speech only. This is then compared to normal hearing thresholds and is evaluated as to whether the loss is mild, moderate, severe or profound. Our hearing tests are carried out to strict guidelines and even our testing equipment must be calibrated to ensure accuracy. We must also carry out ottoscopy, (examination of the ear externally and internally), to make sure that wax is not the problem. Ottoscopy also allows us to check the general health of the ears.
