Hearing sessions in Bath to help people cope with hearing loss

Free monthly sessions will be held in Bath designed to help people who are struggling to cope with hearing loss. The sessions will be held throughout the rest of the year, hosted by the B&NES Health and Well Being Partnership as well as the local Bath council and the NHS.

Organised by charity, deafPLUS, the sessions will take place at its offices in Green Park Station as a way of reducing the need to visit hospitals.

Melanie Ward, Partnership hearing therapy team spokeswoman, said, “This innovative programme recognises that going to hospital isn’t always an appealing way of finding out how you can get the most out of life, even if you have a hearing loss.

“Hearing loss affects one in seven people in the UK. It is important to manage it well, from the beginning, and it is not always practical to go to the hospital.”

The sessions are set to run from 10am-4pm with breaks to allow people to meet other people on the mini-courses scheduled throughout the day to talk about their hearing loss.

Practical workshops are also in place to help people make the most of hearing aids as well as tactics on how to cope with hearing loss.

People can book a place on the sessions by calling 01225 446 555 or alternatively emailing bath.office@deafplus.org.
